the exams are nearing and over the past few weeks many friends have been hurriedly booking flights home to fly off immediately after graduation. i think the coolest thing about coming from singapore is how it is like a global stopover point for many long-haul flights. the doubly cooler thing(if there is such a word) is having many friends from everywhere like from canada all the way to saudi arabia which means that wherever i may choose to go for a holiday, im nearly 90% bound to know someone living there who can take me around.
i really like my school. i hardly say this, but i really love the system i'm in now. i really appreciate my teachers who actually have a passion for teaching and who sacrifice so much time and effort to make the subject they teach interesting. these teachers are dedicated and would walk over broken glass (quote R Tapper, our chem teacher) to help us score well for the finals. these teachers are funny, and don't scold you for being stupid. they know how to joke and kid around, and teachers always make fun of other teachers in class. i love the independence they give you here. i love being able to walk to town with chessy during lunch when we feel like it, or going to the library to watch videos. i love being able to check my phone in class, and wearing slippers on a hot day.
i told chess today that if she leaves next year for a different country, i hope she'll look back and really miss all that we've enjoyed this year, cos if she goes, i'll miss her. i'll miss having someone get scared with me in the middle of the night, and i'll miss opening the tv room and seeing a hunched figure peering over her spectacles at the tv while knitting, with her lousy computer at her feet. ill miss sitting beside a sleeping figure in the common room, and i'll miss seeing the hair straightener on our toilet window ledge. nobody is as considerate as chessy, she wipes the seat to my satisfaction, and knows what i'm scared of and makes sure i'm not scared. CHESSY IS THE BEST!
