Everytime I feel a little overwhelmed, and start considering whether or not to stop babysitting Ruth (the older one) and Sarah, God gives me the most perfect Saturday afternoon with them. After that, I know for sure that I'm definitely doing a good thing spending two hours of every Sat afternoon with them.
Everytime Hans drops me outside their house, both of them go berserk. Ruth starts shouting HELLO! HELLO JO! COME AND PLAY! and sarah starts babbling and running around in circles, because everytime they see me, it means it's time to play.
If you don't already know, Karen (Ruth and Sarah's mum) is hearing-impaired and also has tunnel vision. She is a fantastic mother to them, but me going to their house every Sat gives her a break without the kids (the only time the entire week), and it also means that if it's a good day, the kids can go out and play (With Karen's poor vision, the girls can't go out to play except with their father because Karen just can't see beyond a certain distance)
Last Sat, I went to babysitting with a heart prepared to tell them I might have to stop coming every Sat because of other commitments. But seeing their excited screams and hugs, I just knew I simply can't. A small effort on my part goes a long way at their end, and even though I don't get paid, it's all about blessing those who need it more, isn't it?
That's Sarah, who still hasn't quite learnt how to speak intelligibly yet, but who's certainly getting there.
And that's Sarah again feeling violated by her easily-excited sister, Ruth
This girl can melt even Hans' heart
(: It's worth it, isn't it?
